Comment: Got this as a gift but it's going right back. Who needs a rice-cooker that takes
an hour to cook white rice. Give me a break!

Comment: This rice cooker is everything that other reviewers said it would be. In addition to making basic rice, I've also made Spanish rice and rice & lentils in the short time I've had it. It's much more convenient that cooking rice on the stove or in a vegetable steamer. If you eat rice on a regular basis, it's a good investment.

Comment: You do pay a lot more for this rice cooker but in this case you DO get what you pay for. We cook rice almost every day and with this Zojirushi there is no more worry about how the rice will turn out. Plus the Keep Warm (and Extended Keep Warm) can keep the rice hot and moist for almost 24 hours. Our kids appreciate the ability of this "rice cooker" to bake cakes even more. All the cakes come out perfect too, just like the rice.

The 5 cup model is not very big and the design is very pleasing to the eye. Does not look anything like the White Cylindrical rice cookers. Quality is top notch and all the components have a nice feel to them. Nothing cheap or plastic in this cooker.

All in all, a great addition to any family that cooks rice frequently.

Comment: If you happen to love rice, as I do,you will not be disappointed with this rice cooker. It makes amazing rice (I cook brown rice primarily), and the timer works perfectly. It is still amazing to me that I can tell it when I want my rice done, and it is done, and goes from 'cook' to 'warm' at exactly that time, with the rice perfectly cooked. It is great to have an item of my dinner that I need pay no attention to during dinner preparations, and still know it will be exactly right. I also make steel-cut oats, barley, and other grains, as well as cooking dried beans, and they all come out perfectly. I use (and highly recommend) the cookbook that I ordered at the same time: The Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook : 250 No-Fail Recipes for Pilafs, Risottos, Polenta, Chilis, Soups, Porridges, Puddings and More, from Start to Finish in Your Rice Cooker. Clean-up is a breeze, and I am eating more whole grains and beans. Very happy with this product.

Comment: It is ridiculously simple to make perfect rice each and every time! Although it takes longer to prepare the rice (we have not tried the Quick Rice feature yet), this can be easily overcome with a little planning. I cannot overstate how simple it is to prepare perfect rice every time. I also like the compact design that does not take up a lot of counter space. I have yet to try the device on grits and oatmeal.
