Zojirushi NP-HBC18 10-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer with Induction Heating System, Stainless Steel

Comment: We recieved this unit over 6 months past. Outstanding quality and shipping was quick with no damage. This Z is our second with the first one handing down to our daughter after close to 20 years of hard use and numerous moves. Basic maker but still works great! This new Z IH is top quality. Superior craftsmanship along with all the bells and whistles (make that songs) go a long way in wanting to use this machine. We love rice and although we don't have this one going 24/7 like several of our friends did with other units, we use on a regular basis. Out on our counter is where this nice design lives and in sight adds to more rice. Beside the Z on the counter we have a 22 cup storage unit with an automatic measure so other than a rinse, everything is geared toward ease of rice prep. Normally we make Jasmine rice and the aroma fills the room similar to that of fresh baked bread (yes, we have a Z bread-maker too). 10-cup works for the both of us as we do eat our fair share and allows for enough rice when we have dinner guests. The price is a bit high and I kept an eye out for price drops, buying when at lowest I'd seen. Summary: IH cooks great, SS outside is easy to clean and pleasing to the eye, no-stick interior easy to clean, controls are easy to use and although price is high, IH along with world-class technology made it worth it for us. Bottomline: Z is all about quality and our rice is PERFECT from the machine...we would buy again. Besides, what's not to like about their cute little elephant.

Comment: I give this rice cooker 4 stars - but really if I could use 2 sets of stars the Zojirushi overall would get 4 to 5 stars. It looks great outside. It programs and cooks wonderfully, not just rice but other grains also.
What bothers me and would pull it down to 3 stars, is the inside TEFLON coated cooking bowl. When it's new teflon is so nice to clean afterwards and nothing gets stuck to it or crusts up. But get scratches, and goodbye nice bowl.
Teflon is unhealthy stuff like other plastics. Negligible when new. So be very very careful and as soon as it's scratched buy a replacement. You will love this cooker for it's ease of use. Most people don't care about chemical warnings when use is so wonderful, and don't mind buying more bowls.
As you see I'm a health nut and cook mostly in stainless steel or iron skillets. But I forget to turn things off! This Zojirushi gives you a timer, turns off when cooked and keeps warm if you want. I've cooked brown rice, then barley. Both came out great. You'll have to figure out your own settings for unfamiliar grains. If you never cook anything but what's advertised don't worry. Follow directions carefully and you'll be happy with this cooker!

Comment: I am really satisfied with my new Zojirushi NP HBC18 10 cup rice cooker. I have no regrets in buying this. It is worth all the money I've paid, it is very important to invest our money in our health,that is why I did not hesitate to buy this product. Eversince I used this, my family and I are enjoying the excellent taste of rice, it is really superp!!! I used to own another kind of rice cooker, but this one is exceptional!! If I have to need another rice cooker, I will definitely want to own or buy this kind again.

Comment: It is hands down the best rice I have ever had. Well worth the money. I can't speak for its brown rice abilities but I don't doubt it would do a great job. High quality construction. Yes it says made in Japan for those wondering.

Comment: It's been said a a lot already. You get what you pay for. Saying is perfect for this cooker. I use it three times a week, and have yet to have a bad batch. My wife laughs at the start and end chimes, but I like it (you can turn it off by the way). I digress. Easy to use, and easy to clean. Don't think, just buy it. You can thank me later.
