This brand is famous for a long life, and also cook good quality rice. Just need one extra step to add water in the rice cooker. But for long life time I think it is very worth. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful: By Robert E. Clark (Fairfax, VA, US) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Tatung 10 Cup Rice Cooker- TAC10G(SF)- White The rice cooker was purchased as a gift, based on the performance of an identical model over ten years ago. The key to the value of this cooker is "indirect heating" rice cooker, which are hard to find and usually far more expensive. Most rice cookers that I have seen are direct heating. The inner pot that holds the rice sits directly on a thermostatically controlled element which results in a crusty layer of overcooked rice in the bottom of the pot. With the indirect cooking model, every kernal of rice is perfectly cooked and it can be held at serving temperature for several hours. Its great! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By Molly Millions (Detroit, MI) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This thing ain't pretty - color choices in Taiwan were limited to seafoam green and 1970's vomit orange - but man, is it functional! This is a wonderful device useful for SO MUCH MORE than making rice: steaming vegetables, cooking dumplings and baozi, even making soups. Every Taiwanese I know owns one, and they last forever. It reminds me of the American-made kitchen appliances of yesteryear in terms of simplicity and durability (you know - like that 1960s , Airstream-trailer-lookin' toaster your grandma still uses). |
