All automatic, the stainless steel rice cooker includes a warm mode which automatically kicks in to keep the rice warm. This model will cook 8 cups of rice and yields 12 cups of cooked rice. With the addition of all stainless steel, none of your food ever comes in contact with any chemical or substance (like teflon on some others). Comes featured with indicator lights, different cooking modes and includes a stainless steel vegetable steamer tray. 1 Year Warranty.
Comment: I like it so much. When I use it to cook the rice, I feel it is safe for my family's health. But I think it is a little bit expensive.

Summary: Score one for me 2010-03-07
Comment: The wife has not thrown it in the garbage so it must be good. Forty years a Japanese chef so it has to be good or it goes out the back door faster than it came in the front door. She has been using this one daily for several months and it has not made it into the scrap metal pile. Guess I scored a homerun with this purchase. Score one for me!! Would have been with bases loaded if the outside cover had been stainless also. Oh yes I'm very serious as I bought her a wok many years ago after coming back to the states and struck out early in the inning. She cooked dinner in it one night and the next morning it was in the back of the garbage truck going down the steet before I got out of bed. I guess that must have been the start of my training camp.

Summary: Not what I anticipated 2010-02-19
Comment: I was excited to replace my Japanese teflon coated rice cooker. I'm Asian, so this has been a staple in our kitchen. I had replaced everything teflon coated over the years, but the rice-cooker was the last to go, because I never could find one that was all stainless before.
The first miracle rice cooker arrived dented and the rice paddle was broken. Seller promptly sent out another one. I thought that the glass top would be great to see the progress of the rice, but, as I had read, even with one cup of rice, the liquid sputtered over the edge. So, I HAVE to use the steamer to keep the sputtering and dripping over the edge. With the steamer in place, I can't even see what's really happening with the rice. It also seems that the amount of water required differs from the Japanese cooker.
So much liquid sputters out of the whole in the lid that I HAVE to put a paper towel on top of the lid in order to keep the counter and floors clean. It really is a messy cooker! I don't like it. Also, when we leave it on warm for a while, all the steam runs off the lid onto the perimeter of the interior pot and the rice gets really soggy around the edges. It doesn't seem to do NEARLY as good a job as the Japanese cooker, but since I have no other choice, I guess I'll just have to bear with it.
Also, a good bit of the rice sticks to the bottom, so we always have to cook extra rice in order to make up for the waste.
After my order, I got an email from Amazon re the Oyama cooker, but then I had also read that it has a silicone gasket...so...I don't know how healthy it is.

Summary: Beautiful !! 2010-02-16
Comment: This is a beautiful rice cooker! The stainless steel inner pot is sooo shiny! The steamer has fairly wide holes (like diameter on permanent marker). Don't think you can steam rice the next day in it, but great for veggies. Steamer is also stainless and gorgeous. I made oatmeal without the steamer on it and it came out great. I unplugged it when it went from cook to warm and soaked it after we finished the oatmeal as recommended by some reviews. Cleans out easily. Better than my old aluminum rice cooker. Will try rice today. I love it!
