The measures in the accompanying booklet are for using the water-fill lines on the inside of the bowl and the little measuring cup that comes with the cooker, which is slightly different than an actual cup measure. (Jotting down standard measures in the margin will help in case the little cup ever gets lost.) The rice cooker stops cooking and switches to warm when it senses that the water has been cooked off.
Cleaning is almost as easy as wiping out the removable insert with a paper towel. At the very most, it'll take a few quick swipes with a warm, soapy sponge. (To protect the nonstick coating, don't use anything more abrasive than a gentle nylon scrubber.) The rice cooker measures 12-1/2 across by 10 inches high. Rival includes a one-year warranty against defects and comes with a detailed booklet of instructions, recipes, and tips. --Garland Withers

(Novi, MI) - See all my reviews This review is from: Rival RCS200 20-Cup Stainless-Steel Rice Cooker (Kitchen) I purchased this to replace my old rice/veggie steamer and I am so disappointed. It has burned the rice all four times I have used it. I keep increasing the water but to know avail. The only thing that works is cooking the rice. I guess if I want to continue to use it I will have to stand near by to check it occasionally. So much for automatically knowing when the rice is done and the handy "keep warm" setting. I may return this to the store yet. I really don't like it. 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Rival RCS200 20-Cup Stainless-Steel Rice Cooker (Kitchen) We got this rice cooker as a Christmas gift. We've tried cooking rice in it three times, and all three times the rice has burned. It simply gets too hot. Like some of the other reviewers, we added more and more water, but it didn't help. The cooker finally does kick into "warm" mode, but by then it's too late. We were thrilled when we realized it was non-stick, but what good is non-stick when the rice is scorched beyond edible? 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful: By Anand (State College, PA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Rival RCS200 20-Cup Stainless-Steel Rice Cooker (Kitchen) This cooker is good. It cooks rice perfectly, and does NOT stick at all. I tend to unplug the cooker once it is done cooking, rather than keep it on the warm cycle. The Keep Warm cycle if kept for a long time would dry the rice a little since it has no source of additional moisture. It's stainless steel exterior also looks sleek and very nice on the countertop.I would recommend that you adjust water levels to suit the rice you are using. Water levels required depend on the consistency you desire and the age and type of rice. This is not for just this rice cooker but for most brands and types under $100. |
