A complete, healthy, fat-free meal can be prepared in this electric rice cooker. The nonstick removable inner pot produces up to 16 cups of cooked rice, while the steaming basket holds enough vegetables or shrimp for three or four hungry people. Simple to operate, the cooker features just one switch and two settings, cook and keep warm. During cooking, a red light is illuminated; when cooking is complete, the switch automatically reverts to the keep warm setting and a yellow light comes on. Moisture and nutrients are sent back into the cooker by the domed glass lid, which also allows for easy viewing.
After cooking, the rice should be allowed to sit for about ten minutes before the lid is removed. Included with the cooker is a plastic paddle for stirring and serving the rice, as well as a plastic measuring cup. The cup, paddle, pot, and steamer all should be washed by hand in hot, soapy water after each use. The rice cooker, including the stay-cool side loop handles, measures approximately 10 by 11-1/2 by 11-1/2 inches and carries a one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri

 This is a great rice cooker..., By This review is from: Rival RC161 16-Cup Rice Cooker with Steaming Basket, White (Kitchen) And the best I've owned. I've tried several brands in several price ranges and have had varying degrees of disappointment (complete with one unit catching fire). When it came time to buy yet another one, I looked everywhere for a brand I hadn't had experience with already. When I found the Rival (and in red to boot) I couldn't pass it up. I've used their crock pots for years. This rice cooker has been a wonderful addition to the kitchen, and is used at least once a week, sometimes more. As with most non-stick pans, even when nothing sharp is used in them they eventually break down. I've owned my unit for nearly two years and there's nothing wrong with it aside from needing a replacement pan. I contacted Rival (silly me) only to find out that they don't offer replacement parts. Thankfully I hadn't paid more than $35 for my 16-cup cooker. Still, I hate to give up my red unit, but to buy a new 16 cup unit...Read more |
