Rival FSD200 8-Quart Digital Food Steamer

I actually loved this steamer. It worked great...for about a month. Then something went wrong were it just shut off after a couple of minutes even though there was much more time left. It continued to do this every time I tried to use it.

Three cheers for Amazon. They were great. They immediately sent out a replacement. The replacement then worked for a little over a month and the exact same thing happened again. Amazon told me that they won't replace it again because the problem is too widespread. Rival must have some defect in this product.

Let's start off with the good stuff.

- It's easy!
I've never used a steamer before, and in no time, I was up and running with this unit.

- Food tastes wonderful!
In particular, fish -- even frozen fish without pre-seasoning -- has come out absolutely scrumptious. Moist and melt-in-my-mouth! Broccoli's super, and corn isn't bad either (though I prefer the taste when I cook it in-husk in the microwave).

- Cleanup isn't bad at all

- The price is right
This is a small price to pay (in purchase price and effort) for healthy, delicious food.

And now the not-so-good stuff

- The (cooking-finished) bell is so soft, I can't hear it unless I'm pretty much standing next to the darn thing.

- There's no 'pause' button. Wanna check your food to see if it's done? Fine, but once you push the power button, you have to key in the minutes again.

At different times I've steamed fresh spinach, broccoli, and four corn cobs. They have all turned out perfect. I like how it keeps the food warm easily for 15 minutes while safely turned off.
