I almost passed this item up because I only saw one review and it was a bad review. Well I took a chance and this is one nice Item. I purchased ours for 19.99 at Target. There were only two left. Let me get to how this all started. First of all I came across a proctor silex rice cooker, for 19.99, I passed that cooker up and then went back to look for that cooker and it was gone. So I did some research on rice cookers. Come to find out, this one had what I was really looking for. The proctor was only a rice cooker. This Rice cooker/steam, can not only cook rice, but steam veggies and fish. It is like a one cook pot. So, rushed home from the store, washed everything, out of the box and read the directions and started putting everything in the pot. It beeps when the rice is cooked, a good sign but it is kinda loud for me. There is something you should always do before using it, check whether the cable is securely plugged to the rice cooker because it can drop relatively easy. I already spotted that several times, so be careful! There are a few issues we have with this cooker, but our main one is the way it cooks!! First off, the directions they provide on how much water to add to different types of rice are inaccurate--we can never seem to get it even close to being correct unless I guesstimate how much (extra) water should be added. And I say extra water because the rice burns if the pot is left on for more than a few minutes after the cooking has completed. (And yes, we have used other directions from the rice bags themselves with the same poor results.) Secondly, you really have to watch the rice cooker when it is cooking because you have to stir the rice when it is half-way done, or else it won't cook properly. I have an issue with this because the rice cookers I've owned, and my family has owned, don't need that extra attention...Read more |
