Product Review

Granite Ware provides the magic ingredients to make a clambake, lobster boil or shore dinner a festive and memorable occasion. This large capacity is designed to accommodate big gatherings and produce outstanding results. This Granite Ware 3 pc 19 quart decorated clam and lobster steamer is porcelain on low carbon. This results in a pot that heats rapidly and is easy to clean. There are no PFOA's or other chemicals to alter food's taste, color or healthfulness. The convenient faucet easily drains liquids. Includes base. Porcelain enamel is the result of fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing, usually between 750 and 850 degrees Celsius. The powder melts and flows and hardens to a durable vitreous coating on a carbon steel core. It creates a smooth, hard finish that won’t burn and resists staining. It’s also non -porous so it won’t trap odors or food particles and provides a low coefficient of friction – meaning that it cleans up easily and, it is corrosion and chemically resistant so it will last a long time. When fired, the vessel is placed on pins so the bottom and sides are hardened during the firing process into one smooth laminated glass surface. You may notice slight pin indentations where the glass has flowed around the pin that supports the base during firing. The pin marks do not compromise the finish or performance of the vessel in any way but you should take additional care in handling if using on glass top stove.

The box arrived in beat up condition, but it was double boxed and the steamer was not damaged at all. It worked perfectly for a clam & lobster back yard party for 15 people.

What a nice big steamer--steamed the clams excellent and holds the juice below so if you'd like to make chowder, you have natural ingredients. I would highly recommend this product.

I took a chance ordering eventhough some of the reviews were not the best. I absolutely love the Lobster/Clam Steamer Pot. It is very functional and looks pretty on display when not in use. Nice big size, good quality and the spout is great for the broth. I have to admit that I was lucky that mine came undamaged because I have to agree that the packaging is not sufficient to protect the pot from damage in shipping if the package gets "man-handled" at all. It appears to be shipped in its original box with no additional packing material just a fragile warning label. None-the-less, mine is perfect and I am glad I took the chance and ordered it. Hopefully the seller will listen to the feedback and start using a sturdy shipping box. Also comes with recipes which I am looking forward to trying.
