Aroma ARC-838TC 8-Cup Digital Cool Touch Rice Cooker and Food Steamer

Comment: Had it for a month now. Switched from a Rival glass lid model and now the splatter is gone. Haven't used the delayed timer function yet. Beep on completion is good and looks elegant too. Like the drip collecting pouch on the side.
Cleaning the lid is a little cumbersome since the top lid does not separate from the base but that is not a biggie, just wipe with a paper towel. I don't think it is a good idea to steam veggies when cooking rice, the veggies get coated with rice paste when it boils over it.

Comment: PROS:
Cheap
Cooks rice, including brown rice
One-button operation
Attractive design
Inner pan is removable
Quality of cooked rice is good as long as you remove it immediately

CONS:
Cord too short
End of cooking alert signal sounds like a smoke detector
Blows steam out the top and warps cabinets
Keeps rice warm, but actually cooks it onto the side of the inner pan after an hour or so
Inner pan is NOT DISHWASHER SAFE and a pain to clean with baked-on burnt rice effluent on it

If I had to make this decision again, I would buy a better rice cooker. This one is cheap, and I love the convenience, but I am disappointed with its performance.

Comment: I fix quite a lot of rice and just got tired of watching rice cook in a standard pot. I decided to look at rice cookers and did a lot of research and looking at reviews. I picked this Aroma model. I love it. Put everything in and hit the on button and it comes out perfect every time without having to check it to see how it is doing. Fantastic product.

Comment: I love this rice cooker, and got rid of my old one when I used this at someone's house! It is so non stick, and makes great rice. The only thing I would mark it down for is that the condensation builds up on the lid, and you need to put a sponge or something in to get it clean, not the easiest part. But the pot itself cleans so easily, and it is pretty foolproof. And quiet.

Comment: I ordered this Rice cooker after spending a hours reading reviews on this cooker and others on Amazon. I was encouraged by the good reviews and put off by a few negative reviews and a little put off by the low price when compared to other cookers with an average of 4 star ratings. But i figured what the heck, I have never been disappointed with any purchase from amazon having a 3 star or better rating.
The cooker arrived today and was sitting at my door when returned home from work. So step 1 was quite satisfactory, it arrived exactly when promised! So step 2 was to open the box, no problems there. The shipping carton it came in from amazon was a about twice the width of the products package but who cares really. It was not damaged in any way.
So I opened the cooker did a quick scan of the directions, did a quick wash of the parts that touch food. Added 3 cups of my favorite Organic jasmine brown rice. and added the recommended amount of water from the instruction manual and pressed the cook button. I resisted the urge to peek as the aroma of cooking rice began waft through my home. After about 30 minutes or so, I didn't really time it but it did not take long at all, the ready alarm began to chime. The rice was cooked to perfection! It fluffed up so pretty and without big sticky clumps. I am quite please with my purchase at this point as my dinner was light and fluffy.
Cleanup took um 2 or 3 minutes at most. I can't wait to cook some steel cut oats in the morning.
