Summary: Totally Dissatisfied 2010-02-05
Comment: The first try was with brown rice, so I expected the time to be longer. The rice
cooker totally overcooked the rice, with scorching at the bottom. The second try
I used white rice and monitored the cooking and time closely just to see when the switch would would go off. At one hour and fifteen minutes I manually moved the
switch up to turn it off knowing that the rice was already way overcooked. Same as the first time, overcooked and slightly scorched at the bottom.
Total waste of money, and good rice. Retailed for $20, I purchased it on sale for
$10. (I guess they were getting rid of it - for good reason.)

Summary: Unreliable rice cooker 2007-01-29
Comment: This company does honor the warranty, though it has failed three times in the last year. It just broke the third time so we plan on getting another brand. While it worked, it worked quite well. So it gets two stars for doing a job well (when it still worked) and a star for the honoring the warranty multiple times.

Summary: great product 2006-09-23
Comment: I bought this rice cooker for 20 bucks in fall of 2004 with the anticipation that it would last me 6 months to a year. It just seemed too cheap and light weight in comparison to the heavy duty rice cookers I grew up watching my mother and her 3 other sisters use. (They're all Thai, FYI.)
To my surprise, it's been 2 years and it still works without a problem, and I use it 4-5 times a week. When I first bought it I found that it spurt a bit of water from the steam vent in the lid but after a few uses it's stopped. No idea why. Aside from using it for just rice, I (ab)used it to make box pastas and soups my freshman year. (Since you weren't allowed to have hot plates in dorms, but rice cookers were allowed) It works great, but you do have to watch it as if you were cooking in a pot on a stove since the weight from the pasta or soup would not cue the rice cooker to turn off automatically.
The only thing you need to know is don't let anyone put the removable pot or steamer accessory in the dishwasher. It seems to kill the finish on the aluminum and you can no longer turn the pot upside down and have the rice fall out in the shape of the pot.
